1. Accepting these terms
By downloading, installing or using PawMaple, or by using pawmaple.ca, you agree to these Terms of Use (the “Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use PawMaple.
You must be at least 13 years old to use PawMaple. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these Terms on your behalf.
These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy by reference.
2. Who we are
PawMaple is published by ZeasDesign, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada (Business Identification Number 1001474674), owned and operated by Henry Zeas. In these Terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean ZeasDesign.
3. What PawMaple is
PawMaple is a personal record-keeping and organisation tool for dog and cat owners. It lets you:
- keep a profile and photo for each pet, for up to six pets per account;
- record vaccines, medications, parasite treatments, weight logs, medical conditions and appointments;
- track pet-related expenses and budgets, in Canadian or U.S. dollars;
- set reminders for upcoming care;
- use AI assistance to identify a breed from a photo, read a receipt, and ask general pet-care questions;
- find nearby veterinary clinics and emergency services;
- export your records as PDF documents.
PawMaple is a record-keeping tool, not a medical device and not a regulated health application. It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition in any animal.
4. Your account
- You may use PawMaple without an account; your records then live only on your device, and losing or resetting that device loses them.
- Creating an account (by email and password, or with Sign in with Apple) enables cloud backup and multi-device sync.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for everything done through your account.
- You must give accurate information and keep it current.
- Tell us promptly at support@pawmaple.ca if you believe your account has been compromised.
- One account is for one person. Do not share it or sell access to it.
5. PawMaple is not veterinary advice
- Always consult a licensed veterinarian about your animal's health. Nothing in PawMaple should be used to make, delay or avoid a decision about veterinary care.
- In an emergency, call a veterinary clinic or emergency service immediately. Do not use the app's AI assistant instead.
- Reminders are a convenience, not a guarantee. Notification delivery depends on your device, its settings, its battery state and the operating system. You remain responsible for your pet's care schedule.
- Breed identification, care guides and healthy weight ranges are estimates generated from a photograph. They are not genetic testing and may be wrong, particularly for mixed breeds.
- Any information about medications, dosages, vaccines or treatments that you record is information you entered. We do not verify it.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any decision made, action taken, or care delayed or omitted in reliance on PawMaple.
6. AI features
The breed scan, receipt scan and vet assistant use artificial-intelligence models operated by us and by a third-party provider on our behalf. You acknowledge that:
- AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or misleading, and must be reviewed by you before you rely on it;
- each AI action is one you choose to take, and sends the relevant image or text for processing as described in the Privacy Policy;
- output is generated, not curated, and does not represent our professional opinion or that of any veterinarian;
- we may change, limit or discontinue AI features, or apply fair-use limits to prevent abuse;
- you must not use the AI features to seek advice on harming an animal, or in any way that breaks section 9.
7. Subscriptions and billing
7.1 What Premium is
PawMaple Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, offered on a monthly or annual basis, that unlocks the creation of new records, the AI features, cloud backup and sync, reminders and clinic search.
7.2 Free trial
New subscribers may be offered a 14-day free trial. Nothing is charged during the trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, it converts automatically to a paid subscription at the price shown at purchase. Trial offers are per Apple ID and may not be available to everyone.
7.3 Payment
All payments are processed by Apple through your App Store account, not by us. Prices are shown in your local currency in the App Store before you confirm, and include applicable taxes where Apple collects them. We never see or store your payment card details.
7.4 Auto-renewal
Your subscription renews automatically for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
7.5 Cancelling
Cancel at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iOS device, or through the App Store. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. When you cancel, you keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for. We cannot cancel an Apple subscription on your behalf.
7.6 Refunds
Refunds are governed by Apple's policies and are requested from Apple, not from us, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no ability to issue a refund for an App Store purchase. Where consumer-protection law in your province or country gives you a stronger refund right, that law applies.
7.7 Price changes
We may change subscription prices. Apple will notify you of a price increase and, where required, ask for your consent before it applies to your renewal. If you do not agree, you may cancel before the change takes effect.
8. What keeps working without a subscription
If your trial ends or your subscription lapses, PawMaple becomes read-only. Nothing is deleted and nothing is hidden. Specifically, these continue to work indefinitely, at no cost:
- reading every record you have created;
- correcting and deleting any record;
- every export — the medical-history PDF, expense reports, and the full data export;
- deleting your account.
What pauses is the creation of new records and the AI features. Subscribe again and writing resumes where you left off. The six-pet ceiling is a product limit that no subscription raises.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use PawMaple for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of animal-welfare law;
- upload content that is illegal, abusive, or that infringes anyone's rights;
- upload photographs of people without their consent;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our source code or models, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits it;
- circumvent subscription controls, usage limits, or security measures;
- use automated means to access, scrape or overload the service;
- resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute PawMaple or its output;
- use PawMaple to provide veterinary services to third parties, or present its output as professional advice;
- impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your affiliation with a person or organisation.
10. Your content
Your pet records, photos, notes and messages remain yours. We claim no ownership of them.
You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, transmit, reproduce and process your content solely to operate PawMaple for you — for example to sync a record to your other device, or to send a photo for a breed scan you requested. This licence exists only for as long as we host that content and ends when you delete it. We do not use your content to train AI models, to advertise, or for any purpose other than providing the service.
You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for keeping your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Use the export feature.
11. Our intellectual property
PawMaple, the PawMaple name and logo, the app's design, code, text, illustrations and structure are owned by ZeasDesign and protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and with the App Store Terms of Service.
All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
12. Availability and changes
We aim to keep PawMaple available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend or discontinue features — including AI features — at any time. If we discontinue the service as a whole, we will give at least 30 days' notice where reasonably possible, so you can export your records.
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use PawMaple after that means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Suspension and termination
You may stop using PawMaple at any time and delete your account from Settings.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms — in particular section 9 — or where required by law. Where the circumstances allow it, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix the problem, and a reasonable opportunity to export your data. Sections 5, 10, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 18 survive termination.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PawMaple is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy or uninterrupted availability.
We do not warrant that the app will be error-free, that reminders will always be delivered, that AI output will be accurate, or that data will never be lost. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZeasDesign and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or veterinary or other costs, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use PawMaple — even if we have been advised of the possibility.
Our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to PawMaple is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for PawMaple in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) CAD $100.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or under consumer-protection legislation that applies to you. If you are a consumer in Québec, nothing here limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ZeasDesign and its owner from any claim, demand, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of PawMaple, or content you upload that infringes a third party's rights.
17. Apple App Store terms
These terms apply to the extent you obtained PawMaple from Apple's App Store:
- These Terms are between you and ZeasDesign only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for PawMaple or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for PawMaple.
- If PawMaple fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price if applicable. Apple has no other warranty obligation.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to PawMaple, including product liability, legal-compliance and consumer-protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for investigating, defending or resolving any third-party claim that PawMaple infringes intellectual property rights.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and are not on any U.S. Government restricted-parties list.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer, you may also bring proceedings in the courts of your place of residence, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your home jurisdiction.
Before starting a formal proceeding, please write to support@pawmaple.ca. Most disputes are a misunderstanding that an email resolves faster than a court does.
19. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about PawMaple.
- Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. Not enforcing a right once does not waive it.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, on notice to you.
- Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control.
- Language. These Terms are published in English and in French. If the two versions conflict, the English version governs, except where applicable law provides otherwise. The French text is at pawmaple.ca/fr/terms.html.
